AFC Champions League

The AFC Champions League is the main club competition in Asia, bringing together the best teams on the continent in pursuit of the top title in Asian football. The competition is organized into two zones, East and West, with the final bringing together the champions of each group. The tournament serves as a showcase for the development of football across Asia.

History

Fundada em 2002 pela Confederação Asiática de Futebol (AFC), a competição substituiu a antiga Copa dos Clubes Campeões da Ásia. Clubes sul-coreanos, japoneses, sauditas e iranianos dominaram a história da competição, especialmente Jeonbuk Hyundai e Urawa Red Diamonds. Em 2024, o formato foi reformulado para a AFC Champions League Elite, modernizando o torneio. O título é considerado o mais prestigioso para um clube asiático de futebol.
