Primera División of Chile

The Primera División of Chile is the main Chilean football championship, played annually by 16 clubs in a round-robin points system. Colo-Colo is the club with the most titles in the history of the competition and the only South American club to win the Copa Libertadores representing the country. The Chilean championship gained visibility with the golden generations of the national team in the 2010s.

History

O campeonato chileno foi organizado oficialmente em 1933 pela Asociación Central de Fútbol, tornando-se uma das ligas mais tradicionais da América do Sul. Colo-Colo dominou a competição ao longo das décadas, somando mais de 30 títulos nacionais. A liga passou por reformas estruturais nos anos 2000 para adotar o sistema de pontos corridos e reduzir o número de participantes. Universidad de Chile e Universidad Católica são os principais rivais do Colo-Colo e também figuram entre os maiores campeões.
