Saudi Pro League

The Saudi Pro League is the main professional football league in Saudi Arabia, contested by 18 clubs. From 2023 onwards, the league became the center of worldwide attention by signing stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Neymar, Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez, transforming the championship into one of the richest leagues in the world. Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad and Al-Ahli are the four biggest clubs in the competition.

History

A liga saudita foi fundada em 1976 e historicamente foi dominada pelo Al-Hilal, o clube com mais títulos no país e reconhecido pela AFC como o mais bem-sucedido da Ásia. O campeonato ganhou projeção global a partir de 2022, quando o Fundo de Investimento Público (PIF) da Arábia Saudita passou a controlar os quatro maiores clubes do país. A chegada de Cristiano Ronaldo ao Al-Nassr em janeiro de 2023 marcou o início da era de grandes investimentos. A liga ambiciona estar entre as dez melhores do mundo até 2030.
