Alisson Becker is widely regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers in football history. Born in Novo Hamburgo, in Rio Grande do Sul, the Brazilian built an extraordinary career that elevated him to the position of world's best goalkeeper on multiple occasions, revolutionizing the position with his technical ability and contribution with his feet. Raised in a family of footballers — his father Gilberto and his brother Muriel are also goalkeepers —, Alisson developed through the youth categories at Internacional from Porto Alegre. After establishing himself as the undisputed starter for the gaucho club, he transferred to Roma, in Italy, where his performances caught the attention of Europe's biggest clubs. In 2018, Liverpool paid what was then the world record transfer fee for a goalkeeper to sign him. At the English club, Alisson became a cornerstone piece of the victorious era commanded by Jürgen Klopp, winning the UEFA Champions League in 2019 — with the famous save in the last minute against Napoli for the qualification — and the Premier League in 2020, ending a 30-year drought for the English club. In May 2021, he scored a historic header goal against West Bromwich Albion, becoming the first goalkeeper to score in the Premier League for Liverpool. For the Brazilian National Team, Alisson participated in the 2018 and 2022 World Cups, being the pillar of Brazilian defense. He was elected FIFA's Best Goalkeeper in 2019 and 2022, consolidating his legacy as one of the greatest at the position in all of football history.
