Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies was born in a refugee camp in Buduburam, Ghana, son of Liberian parents who fled the civil war in Liberia. His family emigrated to Canada when he was five years old, and that's where he began his football career. Discovered by Vancouver Whitecaps in MLS, he attracted worldwide attention for his exceptional speed and became the youngest player to score in the history of the North American league. In 2018, he was signed by Bayern Munich, becoming the most expensive player in the history of Canadian football. At Bayern, Davies converted from striker to left-back, a position in which he became one of the world's best, contributing to the conquest of Champions League, Bundesliga and Club World Cup titles. He is recognized for his record-breaking speed on the field and his uncommon offensive ability for the position. For the Canadian National Team, he was a key player in the historic qualification of the country for the 2022 World Cup, the first Canadian participation in the tournament since 1986.
