Amadeo Carrizo
Amadeo Carrizo is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of Argentine and South American football. He defended River Plate for more than two decades, between the 1940s and 1960s, being a fundamental part of one of the most victorious eras of the club. He is remembered for being one of the pioneers of the sweeper-goalkeeper style, coming out of the area to initiate plays and anticipating opponents outside the penalty area, something uncommon for the time. His longevity and consistency made him a reference for subsequent generations of Argentine goalkeepers.
