Antônia

Antônia

Born in Riacho de Santana, in Rio Grande do Norte, Antônia started in futsal before moving to São Paulo in 2010 in search of opportunities in field soccer, as her home region did not yet have a structured women's modality. She played for Ponte Preta, Corinthians/Audax — the club through which she won the 2017 Women's Copa Libertadores — and Iranduba before transferring to Spain. In Europe, she played for Madrid CFF and Levante, standing out as a versatile center-back and right-back, until being announced by Real Madrid in July 2024, wearing shirt number 5. Her first call-up to the Brazilian National Team occurred in 2017, but her first actual matches came only in 2020, at the France Tournament. Antônia was one of the 23 called up by Pia Sundhage for the 2023 Women's World Cup, held in Australia and New Zealand, a tournament in which Brazil was eliminated in the group stage. In 2022, she was champion of the Women's Copa América, and in 2024 won the silver medal at the Paris Olympics.
