Archie Gemmill
Archie Gemmill was a Scottish midfielder known for his physical intensity and game vision, becoming one of the most respected players in British football in the 1970s and 1980s. He was immortalized by scoring one of the most remembered goals in World Cup history. Revealed at St Mirren, he transferred to Derby County, where he became a central piece of the team that won the English title under the command of Brian Clough. Then he moved to Nottingham Forest, also under Clough, where he was European champion. His most iconic moment happened at the 1978 World Cup, in Argentina, when he scored a goal dribbling past three Dutch defenders before finishing at the angle, in Scotland's 3-2 victory over the Netherlands, a result that was not enough to qualify the Scots, but that became one of the most celebrated goals in the history of British football.
