Franco Baresi

Franco Baresi is considered one of the greatest centre-backs in the history of world football, having spent his entire career at AC Milan between 1977 and 1997. Master of the libero system, his reading of the game, positioning and leadership were fundamental to AC Milan's historic achievements in the 1980s and 1990s. World Champion with Italy in 1982 and runner-up in 1994, he was immortalized by missing the decisive penalty in that World Cup final. The number 6 was retired by AC Milan in his honor, a very rare tribute in Italian football.
