Brian McClair is a former Scottish striker born in Airdrie. He was one of the most regular players at Manchester United during the Alex Ferguson era and also played for Motherwell and Celtic. At Celtic, between 1983 and 1987, he was the top scorer and Scottish champion in 1985-86. In 1987 he was signed by Manchester United. In the 1987-88 season he scored 31 goals in all competitions, a number that had not been reached by a club player since George Best. At United, he played 471 matches and scored 127 goals in 11 seasons. He was decisive in the English League Cup in 1992, when he scored the winning goal, and was part of the Premier League and FA Cup championship teams in the 1990s. For the Scotland national team he played 30 matches and scored 2 goals.
