Christine Sinclair

Christine Margaret Sinclair is a retired Canadian footballer, considered the greatest goal scorer in the history of international football, among men and women, with 190 goals scored for Canada's national team. Born in Burnaby, British Columbia, she started playing football at four years old and stood out from an early age in Canadian youth football categories. She played university football for the University of Portland between 2001 and 2005, where she set historic NCAA Division I records, including 39 goals in a single season. In 2013, she became one of the founding players of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) when she signed with Portland Thorns FC, the club for which she played throughout her professional career until retiring in 2024, becoming the greatest goal scorer in the team's history. For the Canadian national team, Sinclair competed in six FIFA World Cups and four editions of the Olympic Games, winning the gold medal in Tokyo 2020 and two bronze medals, in London 2012 and Rio 2016. She was the national team captain for over a decade, being elected Canada Soccer Player of the Year 14 times throughout her career.
