Darwin Núñez
Darwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiro is one of the most explosive strikers of the current generation in world football. Born on June 24, 2000 in Artigas, a city in northern Uruguay on the border with Brazil, he grew up in humble conditions and began to stand out in the youth categories of Club Nacional de Football in Montevideo. His European career began at Almería, Spain, where he caught attention with decisive performances in the Spanish Segunda División. In 2020, he transferred to Sport Lisboa e Benfica, Portugal, where he exploded as one of Europe's most lethal strikers. In the 2021-22 season, he scored 34 goals across all competitions, prompting Liverpool FC to invest around €75 million in his transfer — one of the highest fees in the club's history. At Liverpool, he established himself as a central piece of the Reds' attack, combining devastating pace, imposing physicality and elite finishing. His 2023-24 season culminated with the Premier League title — his first English league trophy. For the Uruguay National Team, he is an undisputed starter and one of the pillars of the celeste squad, having participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Copa América 2024. He is considered the present and future of Uruguayan striking.
