De Sordi
Nilton De Sordi was one of the greatest right-backs of Brazilian football in the 1950s, an idol of São Paulo and World Cup champion with the Brazilian National Team in 1958. Born in Piracicaba, in the interior of São Paulo state, De Sordi built virtually his entire career at São Paulo Football Club, where he played for more than a decade and won the 1957 Paulista Championship, forming a solid defense alongside names like Mauro Ramos and goalkeeper Poy. At the 1958 World Cup, in Sweden, he was Brazil's starting right-back for almost the entire campaign, giving way to Djalma Santos only in the final against the Swedes. Nevertheless, he went down in history as a member of Brazil's first-ever World Cup-winning squad. After retiring from his playing career, he remained connected to football, including spells with technical commissions. He is remembered as a symbol of consistency, elegance, and loyalty to a single great club.
