Dennis Frank Wise was born in Kensington, in London, on December 16, 1966. He gained prominence at Wimbledon in the late 1980s, a team known as the Crazy Gang, which won the FA Cup in 1988 by defeating Liverpool in the final. In 1990, he transferred to Chelsea, where he became captain and one of the players most identified with the club. For the Blues, he won the FA Cup in 1997 and 2000, the League Cup in 1998, the European Cup Winners' Cup and the UEFA Super Cup in 1998 and the English Super Cup in 2000. After leaving London, he also played for Leicester City and Millwall. For the England national team, he played 21 matches and scored one goal.
