Didi was one of the greatest midfielders in the history of Brazilian and world football. The Ethiopian Prince, as he was called for his elegance, was the inventor of the dry leaf — the free kick technique that falls unexpectedly. Two-time World Champion with Brazil in 1958 and 1962, he was elected the best player of the 1958 World Cup.
