Diego Godín is one of the most respected defenders of his generation, recognized for his leadership, relentless marking and ability to decide matches with headed goals. He formed one of the most feared defensive partnerships in European football alongside teammates at Atlético de Madrid, a club for which he won two LaLiga titles. He was also captain and key player for the Uruguayan national team in several World Cups.
