Dino Zoff

Dino Zoff

Dino Zoff is considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of world football. Born on February 28, 1942 in Mariano del Friuli, Italy, he started his career with difficulties — he was rejected by Inter and Juventus in his youth — before building one of the sport's most enduring and successful trajectories. In Italian fields, Zoff defended Udinese, Mantova and Napoli before joining Juventus in 1972, where he wrote the best chapter of his sporting life. With the Vecchia Signora, he won six Italian Championship titles, a UEFA Cup, the European Cup Winners' Cup and other trophies, becoming an absolute legend of the club. In the Italian national team, he established a historic record: between 1972 and 1974, he went 1,143 minutes without conceding a goal, the greatest unbeaten streak in the history of World Cup qualifiers at the time. Captain of the Azzurri at the 1982 World Cup in Spain, he lifted the trophy at 40 years of age, becoming the oldest player to win a World Cup — a feat that remains to this day. After retiring in 1983, Zoff remained in football as a coach and manager, having managed Juventus itself and the Italian national team, with which he reached the final of Euro 2000, losing on penalties to France.
