Dirceu Lopes
Dirceu Lopes is considered one of the greatest players in Cruzeiro's history. A skillful midfielder with precise finishing, he formed with Tostão one of the most brilliant partnerships in Brazilian football during the 1960s. Developed in Cruzeiro's youth academy, he made his professional debut as a teenager and quickly became a key player for the sky-blue team that marked an era in the 1960s. His peak came in 1966, when Cruzeiro won the Copa do Brasil by defeating Pelé's Santos in the finals—a historic result that brought national prominence to that Cruzeiro generation. Dirceu Lopes also won several Campeonato Mineiro titles with the club. He remained at Cruzeiro for over a decade, becoming one of the club's greatest goalscorers and symbols of its history, before retiring in the 1970s.
