Djalma Santos
Djalma Santos was one of the greatest defenders in the history of Brazilian and world football. Born in São Paulo in 1929, the right-back stood out for his technical elegance and his ability to conduct offensive plays from the defense, qualities rare among defenders of his era. Considered by experts as one of the greatest right-backs of all time, Djalma Santos was selected for the ideal squad of the World Cups of 1954 and 1962 by FIFA, a feat that attests to his consistency over more than a decade representing the Brazilian National Team. Two-time World Champion with Brazil in 1958 and 1962, Djalma Santos played alongside Pelé, Garrincha, Didi and Nilton Santos in the most glorious achievements of Brazilian football. He passed away in Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, on July 23, 2013, leaving an invaluable legacy to Brazilian football.
