Edílson

Edílson

Edílson, nicknamed Capetinha, was a skillful and controversial striker who marked Brazilian football in the 1990s and 2000s. A natural dribbler, he became famous for his spectacular plays and irreverence on and off the field. He shone at Palmeiras during the Parmalat era, becoming Brazilian champion in 1994, and later at Corinthians, where he reached his peak: he was Brazilian champion in 1998 and 1999 and elected best player of the 2000 FIFA Club World Cup, won by the São Paulo club. He also had spells at Benfica, Kashiwa Reysol, Flamengo, Cruzeiro and Vitória, among other clubs, always alternating brilliant moments with controversial episodes. For the Brazilian National Team, he was part of the squad that won the 2002 World Cup, held in South Korea and Japan, and won the 1997 Copa América.
