Everaldo
Everaldo Marques da Silva started his career in Gaucho football, defending Grêmio before gaining space in the Brazilian National Team throughout the 1960s, a period when the country was preparing to pursue the world threepeat. His consecration came at the 1970 World Cup, in Mexico, when he was the absolute starter at left-back for the national team considered by many to be the best of all time, alongside names such as Carlos Alberto Torres, Brito, Piazza, Gérson, Tostão and Pelé. Everaldo played in every match of the four-time championship campaign. After the World Cup, he transferred to Corinthians, where he continued his career during one of the most challenging periods in the history of the São Paulo club. After retiring from the pitch, Everaldo remained connected to football and is remembered as one of the fundamental names of the 1970 generation.
