Fernando Redondo
Fernando Redondo is considered one of the greatest midfielders in Argentine football history and one of the most elegant players of his generation on the world stage. Nicknamed 'El Príncipe' for his refined and aristocratic style on the pitch, he possessed exceptional game vision, precise passing, and tactical awareness that captivated football enthusiasts. At Real Madrid, he was absolutely fundamental in the two historic European Cup/Champions League triumphs in 1998 and 2000. In the 2000 quarter-final match against Manchester United, he eternally marked his trajectory by executing a heel flick over defender Henning Berg before assisting a goal — considered one of the most iconic moments in Champions League history. Controversial regarding the Argentine national team, he had disagreements with technical staff throughout his career, which limited his participation to just 29 matches for the Albiceleste, a number far below what his talent deserved. After transferring to AC Milan in 2000, he suffered severe knee injuries that practically kept him off the pitch, prematurely ending one of the most brilliant careers in history.
