Gabriele Oriali was born in Casorate Sempione, in Italy, on November 25, 1952. A defensive midfielder with great commitment, he became known as the typical 'mediano', a player who works for his teammates. He spent most of his career at Inter Milan, where he won the Italian Championship in 1979-80 and the Italian Cup in 1977-78 and 1981-82. For the Italian national team, he was champion of the 1982 World Cup, in Spain, and played in the final against West Germany, won 3-1. He totaled 28 matches and 1 goal for the Azzurri.
