Gary McAllister
Gary McAllister was born in Motherwell, Scotland, on December 25, 1964, and was one of the most elegant midfielders of his generation, known for his game vision and precision with set pieces. English champion with Leeds United in 1991-92, he also shone at Coventry City and, as a veteran, at Liverpool, where he took part in the treble season of 2001, with the League Cup, the FA Cup and the UEFA Cup. That year he scored from a free kick at the end of the classic against Everton and converted a penalty in the UEFA Cup final against Alavés. For Scotland he played 57 matches and scored five goals. At Euro 1996 he had a penalty saved by David Seaman against England. After retiring from playing, he became a coach.
