George Weah
George Weah is the only African to win the Ballon d'Or in football history, an achievement accomplished in 1995 in a year of absolute dominance that included the FIFA award and France Football simultaneously. Raised in the streets of Monrovia, capital of Liberia, Weah overcame extreme poverty and the absence of a competitive national team to become the world's best player, winning titles with Monaco, PSG, and AC Milan. He never played in a World Cup due to the fragility of the Liberian national team, a tragedy that in no way diminished his legacy. After retiring from his career, he entered politics and was elected president of Liberia in 2017, becoming a symbol of hope for his people.
