Germán Cano
Germán Cano is an Argentine center forward who built his career away from traditional spotlight and became an idol in two countries. Revealed by Lanús, he took time to establish himself in Argentina, but exploded in Colombia with the Independiente Medellín shirt, the club for which he became the greatest goal scorer in history, with 129 goals. In 2020, already at 32 years old, he arrived at Vasco da Gama and won the affection of the fans with 43 goals in two seasons, even during a turbulent period for the club. The transfer to Fluminense in 2022, however, transformed his career: that year he scored 44 goals, was the top scorer of the Brazilian Championship with 26 goals and won the Campeonato Carioca. In 2023, Cano lived his peak: he was the top scorer of the Copa Libertadores, with 13 goals, and a central piece in Fluminense's unprecedented title conquest, opening the scoring in the final against Boca Juniors at the Maracanã. In 2024 he won the South American Recopa and surpassed the 100-goal mark for the club, besides exceeding 300 goals in his career, consolidating himself among the greatest foreign center forwards in the history of Brazilian football.
