Gonzalo Higuaín
Gonzalo Higuaín was one of the most lethal strikers in world football between 2009 and 2020. Born in Brest, France, son of former Argentine player Jorge Higuaín who worked there, he grew up in Argentina and chose to represent the Albiceleste, becoming one of the greatest goalscorers in the country's football history. After emerging at River Plate, he transferred to Real Madrid in 2006, where alongside Raúl and later Cristiano Ronaldo, he won La Liga on three occasions and established himself as one of Europe's most efficient strikers. The most spectacular phase of his career came at Napoli, where in the 2015-16 season he set a historic Serie A record by scoring 36 goals in a single campaign, a performance that led Juventus to pay a fortune for his signing. With the Turinese, he won three consecutive Italian titles. With the Argentine national team, Higuaín lived both extremes: he was the top scorer in several editions of the World Cup and Copa América, but also carried the weight of missed chances in historic finals. His career is marked, above all, by a rare goalscoring efficiency in world football.
