Hidetoshi Nakata was born on January 22, 1977, in Kofu, in the Yamanashi Prefecture, and is the most influential Japanese player in football history. A pioneer in the migration of Asian players to European football, Nakata paved the way for an entire generation of Japanese athletes. Upon arriving at Serie A with Perugia in 1998, Nakata impressed all of Europe with his technical quality, game vision, and unique personality. Transferred to AS Roma in 2000, he lived his best season in Italy and won the Scudetto in 2000-01, becoming one of the most respected foreigners in Italian football. In the Japan National Team, Nakata was the standout player of the generations that competed in the 1998 World Cup in France and the 2002 World Cup co-hosted by Japan and South Korea. His technical ability and leadership capacity made him the most recognized athlete in Asian football during his time. Nakata surprised the world by announcing his retirement immediately after Japan's elimination in the 2006 World Cup in Germany at only 29 years old. Since then, he has dedicated himself to entrepreneurship, fashion, and cultural projects, becoming a global figure beyond the pitch.
