Ian Wright

Ian Wright was born in Woolwich, London, and began his professional career at just 21 years old at Crystal Palace. A striker with a great goal-scoring instinct, he was signed by Arsenal in 1991. At Arsenal, he scored 185 goals in 288 matches and became the club's all-time leading goalscorer until surpassed by Thierry Henry. He won the FA Cup, the League Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup, as well as the English Championship in 1997/98. For the English national team, he played 33 times and scored nine goals, but never participated in a World Cup. After retiring from professional football, he became a popular television commentator.
