Jari Litmanen foi o maior jogador da história da Finlândia, campeão da Liga dos Campeões e do Mundial Interclubes de 1995 pelo Ajax e recordista da seleção com 137 jogos e 32 gols.
Jari Litmanen
Jari Litmanen was born in Lahti and is considered the greatest player in Finnish history. A skillful attacking midfielder with great vision, he emerged at HJK and established himself at Ajax during the 1990s. At Ajax under Louis van Gaal, he was a central figure in the Champions League winning team of 1994–95, which also won the Intercontinental Cup in 1995 against Grêmio, and three consecutive Dutch league titles. He later transferred to Barcelona in 1999 and Liverpool in 2001, without repeating his Dutch brilliance, partly due to injuries. He returned to Ajax and also played in Germany, Sweden and England before retiring. For the Finnish national team he played 137 matches and scored 32 goals, both national records. In 2003, he was voted the greatest Finnish player of the previous 50 years in the UEFA Golden Jubilee poll.
