Jean-Marie Pfaff

Jean-Marie Pfaff was born in Lebbeke, Belgium, on December 4, 1953. A goalkeeper with quick reflexes and an expansive personality, he built his foundation at Beveren, where he became Belgian champion and won the national cup. In 1982 he was hired by Bayern Munich, and there he lived his most successful period. He won three consecutive Bundesligas, from 1985 to 1987, and two German Cups, and was Bayern's goalkeeper in the 1987 European Cup final, which was lost to Porto. For Belgium's national team, he played 64 matches. He played in the World Cups of 1982 and 1986 and was elected the best goalkeeper of the 1986 tournament, when the Belgians finished in fourth place.
