Jean Tigana
Jean Tigana was one of the greatest midfielders in the history of French football. Born in Bamako, Mali, he moved to France as a child, where he built his entire career. Short, tireless and technically refined, Tigana formed with Michel Platini, Alain Giresse and Luis Fernández the famous 'carré magique', the magic square of the French national team's midfield in the 1980s. His peak in club football was at Girondins de Bordeaux, where he won national titles and established himself among the best in Europe in his position. For France, he was a key player in the conquest of the 1984 European Championship, held at home, and in the semifinal campaigns in the World Cups of 1982 and 1986. After retiring from his playing career, he became a coach, managing clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais, Monaco and Fulham, in England.
