Jhon Árias
Jhon Árias is a Colombian attacking midfielder born in Quibdó, in the department of Chocó, who has become one of the most influential foreign players in Brazilian football in the 2020s. Skillful, intense and versatile, he plays on the flanks and as a playmaker, combining short dribbles with great decision-making ability. After stints in Colombian football, including América de Cali and Independiente Santa Fe, he joined Fluminense in 2021 without much fanfare. At the Rio de Janeiro club, he grew season after season until he became the squad's main player: he was two-time Rio de Janeiro state champion in 2022 and 2023 and a key player in Fluminense's unprecedented Copa Libertadores triumph in 2023, being selected for the tournament's best XI. In 2024, he added the Copa Sudamericana to his achievements. At the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, Árias shone in Fluminense's surprising campaign to the semi-finals and was recognized among the tournament's best players. The performance earned him a transfer to Wolverhampton, of the Premier League, in mid-2025. For the Colombian national team, he established himself in the post-2022 cycle and was runner-up in the 2024 Copa América, played in the United States.
