Julinho

Júlio Botelho, eternally known as Julinho, was one of the greatest right wingers in the history of Brazilian football. Revealed by Portuguesa de Desportos, he delighted Brazil and the world with his disconcerting skill, speed and dribbles that were considered supernatural by chroniclers of the time. Julinho was one of the protagonists of the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, where he scored important goals and was elected one of the best players of the tournament. His performance earned international recognition and opened the doors to Europe: he transferred to Italian Fiorentina, where he also shone and consolidated his reputation as an exceptional player on European fields. Considered by many of his contemporaries and historians as one of the best players in the world in his time, Julinho marked an entire generation with his performances for Portuguesa and the Brazilian National Team. His playing style influenced a generation of wingers in Brazilian football. He passed away on December 31, 2003, leaving an immense legacy in national football.
