Kasey Keller was born in Olympia, Washington, on November 29, 1969. He was one of the most important goalkeepers in the history of the United States national team and spent much of his career at European clubs. Professionally, he played for Millwall, Leicester City, Rayo Vallecano, Tottenham, Southampton, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Fulham, before returning to his country to defend Seattle Sounders from 2009 to 2011. With Leicester, he won the English League Cup in 1997. In the national team, he played 102 matches between 1990 and 2007 and participated in more than one World Cup. He played in all three United States matches at the 1998 World Cup and also at the 2006 World Cup. At Seattle Sounders, he won the US Open Cup in 2009 and 2010 and is remembered as one of the important figures in the early phase of the club in the MLS.
