Ledley King

Ledley King was born in Bow, in London, and spent his entire high-level professional career at Tottenham Hotspur, the club that developed him. He made his debut for the senior team in 1999 and quickly established himself as a centre-back with great game reading, pace and elegance in tackling. Wearing the Spurs shirt, he played 323 matches and scored 12 goals between 1999 and 2012. He was the club's captain and one of the most respected defenders in the Premier League, despite dealing with a serious chronic knee injury that limited his training and forced him to manage his physical condition on rest days. For the England national team, he earned 21 caps and scored 2 goals. His only major trophy was the English League Cup in 2008, won by Tottenham over Chelsea 2-1 after extra time, at Wembley. He announced his retirement in 2012, at the age of 31, due to his knee injury, and is remembered as one of the most talented centre-backs of his generation.
