Leivinha

Leivinha

Leivinha was one of the most talented Brazilian midfielders of his generation, discovered by Palmeiras in the 1960s and recognized as a fundamental piece of the Palmeiras teams that dominated Brazilian football in the early 1970s. With refined technique and exceptional game vision, he became an eternal idol of the green-and-white fans. Born in Jequié, in Bahia, in 1949, Leivinha joined Palmeiras while still young and quickly stood out for his ball handling skills and his ability to create plays under pressure. He was part of the squad that won Brazilian and São Paulo state titles in the early 1970s, being one of the most creative players of the period. After his successful spell at Palmeiras, Leivinha transferred to Spain, where he played for Atlético Madrid, bringing Brazilian talent to European football at a time when such a transition was relatively rare. His performance in Europe confirmed the quality of one of the most complete midfielders in Brazil during his era.
