Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior was born on May 12, 1988 in Rio de Janeiro and is considered one of the greatest left-backs in the history of world football. Revealed by Fluminense, he was signed by Real Madrid at 18 years old and became one of the pillars of the Spanish club for 15 seasons. At Real Madrid, Marcelo won four UEFA Champions League titles, becoming the Brazilian player with the most achievements in this competition. His partnership with Cristiano Ronaldo and his offensive capability redefined the role of the left-back in modern football. For the Brazilian National Team, Marcelo accumulated 58 call-ups and participated in two World Cups (2014 and 2018). In 2014, he was one of the starting players of the national team that reached the semi-final and suffered the historic 7-1 defeat to Germany. After leaving Real Madrid in 2022, Marcelo played for Lyon and Olympiacos, returning to Fluminense in 2023. With the tricolor shirt, he lived one of the most emotional moments of his career by winning the Copa Libertadores in 2023.
