Marcos Assunção
Marcos Assunção was a Brazilian defensive midfielder, born in Vitória, Espírito Santo, recognized internationally as one of the greatest free-kick takers of his generation. He gained prominence at São Paulo Football Club, where he became an idol of the fans for his technical quality and free-kick goals from long-distance set pieces, being an important part of the club's titles in the 2000s. He had a notable spell in Spanish football, playing for Real Betis, in addition to playing for Vitória, Santos and Palmeiras throughout his career, ending it as one of the most respected players in his position in Brazilian football.
