Mark Hughes was born in Ruabon, Wales, on November 1st, 1963, and established himself as a strong striker with powerful finishes and great presence in the box. Revealed by Manchester United, he became one of the club's main center-forwards in the 1980s and 1990s. He also played for Barcelona, Bayern Munich (on loan), Chelsea, Southampton, Everton and Blackburn Rovers. At Manchester United he won the Premier League, three FA Cups, the English League Cup and the European Cup Winners' Cup, scoring both goals in the 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the 1991 final. For the Welsh national team, he played 72 matches and scored 16 goals. He was twice elected Player of the Year by the PFA players themselves, in 1989 and 1991, and later pursued a career as a coach, including managing the Wales national team.
