Marta Vieira da Silva, born in Dois Riachos, Alagoas, is considered by many to be the greatest female footballer in history. She started her career in youth teams in Brazil before transferring to Sweden as a teenager. At Umeå IK, she became instrumental in winning Swedish titles and the UEFA Women's Champions League, establishing herself as one of the world's leading strikers. For the Brazilian national team, she competed in six consecutive World Cups, being the tournament's all-time leading goalscorer, and won Olympic silver medals in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
