Maxime Bossis
Maxime Bossis was born on June 26, 1955, in the Vendée region, in the west of France. An elegant defender with good ball distribution, he built his career mainly at Nantes, the club for which he was three times French champion. In the French national team, he was one of the pillars of the Platini, Giresse and Tigana generation. He played in the 1978, 1982 and 1986 World Cups and was a starter in France's Euro 1984 triumph, the country's first major title. In the historic 1982 World Cup semifinal in Seville against West Germany, Bossis missed the final penalty kick in the shootout that eliminated the French. Four years later, he helped France finish the 1986 Mexico World Cup in third place. He earned 76 caps and scored 1 goal for the national team. After Nantes, he played for Paris Racing and returned to Nantes to end his career.
