Megan Rapinoe
Megan Rapinoe is a former American forward, one of the most decisive and influential players in women's football history, recognized for both her achievements on the field and social activism off it. Educated at the University of Portland, she began her professional career in short-lived American leagues before establishing herself at Seattle Reign FC (later OL Reign), the club where she played for nearly her entire NWSL career, with brief stints at clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais and Sydney FC. For the United States national team, she was a key player in the World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019, being the main protagonist of the 2019 edition, in which she won the Golden Boot and the Tournament's Golden Ball, in addition to winning Olympic gold in London 2012. Rapinoe retired in 2023, being recognized in 2019 as FIFA World Player of the Year and honored in 2022 with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, one of the highest civil honors of the United States.
