Michelle Akers
Michelle Akers is considered one of the greatest players in women's football history. A powerful and versatile forward, she was a key part of the United States national team in the 1980s and 1990s. She was the top scorer and standout player at the first FIFA Women's World Cup in history, held in 1991 in China, which was won by the United States, and became world champion again in 1999, playing at home, in one of the most memorable tournaments in women's sports. In recognition of her career, Akers was elected, alongside Michel Platini, one of the two greatest players of the 20th century by FIFA, and is a member of the United States National Soccer Hall of Fame.
