Paolo Rossi

Paolo Rossi is one of the greatest heroes of Italian football, scorer of 6 goals in the 1982 World Cup — including a historic hat-trick against Brazil — which gave Italy the world championship for the third time. After 2 years suspended for involvement in a betting scandal, he returned to the Cup as a substitute and became the tournament's biggest protagonist. He received the 1982 Ballon d'Or and was elected the best player of the Cup. He died in December 2020.
