Patrick Vieira
Patrick Vieira is widely recognized as one of the greatest midfielders in the history of football. Born in Dakar, Senegal, on June 23, 1976, he grew up in France and became a French citizen, becoming a central piece of the golden generation that dominated world football between 1998 and 2006. At Arsenal, where he played from 1996 to 2005, Vieira was the captain and soul of one of the most admired teams in Premier League history. With an imposing physique (1.91m), innate leadership and sharp game vision, he led the 'Invincibles' of Arsène Wenger in 2003-04 — the only team in the modern history of the Premier League to complete an entire season without a defeat. With the French national team, he completed the most coveted double in football: World Cup champion in 1998, at home, and European champion in 2000. In 2006, he led France to the World Cup runners-up, demonstrating leadership even in physical decline. After retiring, he became a football manager, passing through New York City FC, Nice and Crystal Palace in the Premier League, carrying the same tactical intelligence that characterized him as a player.
