Paulo Baier was a playmaker known for his passing quality, free kick expertise and longevity: he played at a high level in Brazilian football until he was 40 years old. He gained national prominence at Goiás, the club where he lived his most productive phase, being one of the main orchestrators of the team in the standout campaigns of the Brazilian Championship in the 2000s. He also played for Grêmio, Figueirense, Atlético Paranaense and Joinville, always as a technical reference and dressing room leader, even at an advanced age for professional football. After ending his playing career, he remained involved in football in coaching staff roles and coordination, maintaining ties with the clubs in the south of the country where he played.
