Pep Guardiola
Josep "Pep" Guardiola was born in Santpedor, in Catalonia, and developed through Barcelona's youth categories. As a midfielder, he was the brain of Johan Cruyff's Dream Team, which dominated Spain and Europe in the early 1990s. For Barcelona he won six La Liga titles and the Champions League in 1991–92, the first in the club's history, decided at Wembley. In 1992 he was also Olympic champion with Spain, in Barcelona. After leaving the Catalan club in 2001, he played in Italy, at Brescia and Roma, moved to Al-Ahly in Qatar and ended his career at Dorados de Sinaloa, in Mexico, in 2006. For the Spanish national team he played 47 matches and scored 5 goals. After retirement he became one of the most successful coaches in world football, but his career as a player already placed him among the great midfielders of his generation.
