Raimundo Orsi
Born in Avellaneda, Argentina, son of Italian immigrants, Raimundo Orsi was one of the most decisive left-wingers in football during the 1920s and 1930s. He started at Independiente and was part of the Argentine national team that won the silver medal at the Amsterdam Olympic Games in 1928. In 1929 he transferred to Juventus, where he became a key player for the team that dominated the Italian Championship in the first half of the 1930s. Naturalized as Italian, he began to defend Italy — a common practice at the time with the so-called oriundi. His most famous moment was the final of the 1934 World Cup in Rome: Orsi scored the equalizing goal for Italy against Czechoslovakia, paving the way for the comeback in extra time and Italy's first world title. After Europe, he returned to Argentina to end his career.
