Robbie Fowler

Robbie Fowler

Robbie Fowler is one of the most talented strikers England has ever produced, an absolute idol of Liverpool FC in the 1990s. Nicknamed 'God' by Liverpool supporters — a nickname given by the club's own fans as the ultimate expression of admiration —, Fowler stood out for his instinctive finishing and goal-scoring prowess that made him one of the greatest center-forwards of his generation. He grew up in Toxteth, a humble neighborhood in Liverpool, and was developed through the club's youth academy. His rise was meteoric: in 1993, he made his professional debut and scored five goals against Fulham in the League Cup in just one match, announcing to the world that a phenomenon had been born. In the following season, he scored 36 goals in all competitions, establishing himself as the heir to Liverpool's number 9 shirt. Throughout his career, Fowler faced serious injuries that prevented him from reaching the level of the all-time greats, but his goal-scoring average and his identification with Liverpool make him eternal in the history of English football. Besides Liverpool, he played for Leeds United, Manchester City, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and other clubs. For the English national team, he was underutilized, but contributed with important goals. After retirement, he pursued a career as a coach.
